Assalamu alaikum,
I have a question regarding multiple wives. I know a man doesn’t have to ask his wife permission to marry a second wife (or third or fourth). But, is it allowed for him to have a secret second wife? Is he allowed to lie about where he spends his time? For instance, he says he has to work late, but really is with his other wife?
I ask, because it clearly states men have to be good to their women. Men have to be kind to their wives, and vice versa. But, as I understand, having secrets and also lying, isn’t being kind.
I’d like more explanation on this.
