As-salāmu ʿalaykum! Please help me to make a right decision. We are expecting our third kid in the beginning of may inshaaAllah, and it’s a girl. We want to give her a name Alisha. I know that the name has a nice meaning— “protected by God”, “honest”, but unfortunately it’s not Muslim. Some sources say that it has German or Sanskrit origin others say that the name is English. Is it allowed to give our future daughter this name despite it being non-Muslim only because the meaning of the name is good? I would be very grateful for your help!
