Muslim faith leaders call for action to avert humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan

Afghanistan is in a state of crisis as the Taliban captured Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Sunday, 15th August 2021.

The scenes are desperate at Kabul’s international airports as thousands of people are attempting to flee the country, running alongside aircrafts and pushing onto planes, resulting in total chaos and at least 5 deaths. On Tuesday evening, PM Boris Johnson announced a new settlement scheme, which would allow up to 20,000 Afghan vulnerable refugees to seek sanctuary in the UK over the coming years.

Various influential Muslim faith leaders, including Imams & Alimahs, are taking to social media to call for humanitarian aid to address the current affairs in Afghanistan-
