Shaykh Bilal Brown, a Manchester born, Oldham based Islamic Scholar, teacher and convert discusses the experience of being Black, British and Muslim in the UK.
As part of ‘Black History Month’, Shaykh Bilal spoke to likeMEDIA.tv about how attitudes in mainstream Muslim communities to race are improving but that there is still room for improvement.
He also reiterates that the way to overcome racial tensions and prejudiced is through integration, dialogue and resisting community segregation. As communities diversify, people become more comfortable with each other and we are able to celebrate the rich traditions and histories of different cultures and ethnicities.
