Vacancies at Madina Masjid East Ham

Majid East Ham is looking to employ two Facilities Managers, please see below for the two roles pertaining different hours.

Vacancy 1

Job type: Permanent, 6 days per week – Between Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayer

Hours: 32

Salary: £13,700 per annum

Start date: Immediately

We are looking for a hard-working, honest, dependable, self-motivated person to act as Facilities Manager and willing to uphold the Islamic ethos and support the aims and values of Madina Masjid.

Duties and Responsibilities

Security

  • Opening and closing

  • Unlocking and locking of building and classes

  • Register as main Key Holder and be the first point of contact in an emergency callout situation

  • Overall security of the mosque premises including the locking of all windows, doors and gates

  • You may be called out at unsociable hours to deal with security problems, make emergency repairs or allow access to any contractor who may be working on the site, during holidays or weekends

Cleaning

  • To clean designated areas of the mosque and outer building to the highest possible standards

  • Vacuuming carpeted areas

  • Wiping, polishing, dusting of designated areas

  • Spot cleaning of spillages

  • Emptying and cleaning bins

  • Cleaning of wudu/ablution area, toilets, replacing tissue and filling soap dispensers

  • Cleaning of windows, internal and external doors and walls where necessary

  • Straightening furniture, books and general tidying up of the mosque

Management

  • Line manage and set tasks for the Facilities Officer who works on the weekend

  • Be responsible for monitoring cleaning supplies and equipment

  • Monitoring and setting of heating controls

  • Be aware of the location of all stopcocks, gas and electricity meters and reading meters as required

  • Ensure that the boiler area is tidy and that no flammable material is stored there

  • Using appropriate PPE

  • Any other work requested by, and deemed appropriate by Senior Management

As part of your role you will be required to give Adhan. This is essential.

One very important condition of employment at Madina Masjid is that no holiday requests are allowed to be taken during the month of Ramadan. Unless if there is any emergency and proof can be provided. During the month of August our Madrasah is closed and we encourage employees to have their holidays taken during that time if possible.

Past experience as a caretaker in the public or private sector would be beneficial. However, not a must. New applicants will also be considered as full training will be given.
