Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada launches new book against ISIL, that promotes moderation and outlines the inherent flaws in extremist ideology.
At the 10th anniversary of Gateway to Divine Mercy conference, Imam Qari Muhammad Asim MBE (Makkah Mosque, Leeds) officially launched Shaykh Imdad Hussain Pirzada’s latest book, ‘ISIS – State of Ignorance’.
In this book, Shaykh Pirzada produces a robust counter-narrative to the extremists popular arguments.
Shaykh Pirazada maintains that in the current politically unstable Muslim world, it is very important that a clear and easily comprehensible message regarding Islam goes out to everyone- Muslims and others- so that those who are yearning for the truth, or those who are trying to distort the image of Islam, find a genuine message which is deeply rooted in theology and provides solutions to the modern problems.
Whilst introducing the book, Imam Qari Asim said that the book was very timely and extremely relevant. It explains key themes, terminologies and concepts within Islam relating to the political context affecting Muslims. In the world in which we live in, one of the greatest challenges faced by Muslims is the misinterpretation and misrepresentation of the incredibly powerful and relevant values of Islam. Those values are currently being distorted by ISIL’s violent, inhumane and unIslamic actions.
Imam Qari Asim continued and said, that Shaykh Pirzada’s work washighly praiseworthy as he eloquently explores the centrality of the concept of moderation in Islam. Further, he expounds the issue of extremism and terrorism and highlights that groups such as ISIL are Khawarij (rebels). They are not representatives of Islam in any way because Islam grants peace and security to all citizens of the world, whereas ISIS’ poisonous ideology represents something otherwise.
Shaykh Pirzada, like many other leading Islamic scholars across the globe, condemns ISIS/ Daesh’s violent actions and urges young people not to fall for ISIL propaganda on social media. Islam demands Muslims to be just and fair in all of their dealings. Islamic path is path of moderation and balance, and Muslims are to be the ‘middle nation’ in every aspect of their lives.
Muslims are neither extreme nor neglectful, neither excessive nor heedless, either in their thinking or in practice of their faith.
The message that runs throughout the book, ‘ISIS- State of Ignorance’, is that anyone who wants to please God, safeguard his faith and follow the path to Paradise must stay away from modern day fitnas like that of extremism.
